Department of Accreditation

The Department of Accreditation is the leading department for our two specialized sections:

  • Section for Environment and Health

Section for Industry and Certification

The Section for Industry and Certification has processing, assessment, accreditation, and follow-up of accredited organizations as its main task. This applies to organizations such as:

  • Verification bodies
  • Inspection bodies
  • Certification bodies
  • Laboratories within the areas of calibration, maritime, land-based industry, and construction products

 

Section for Environment and Health

The section has case handling, assessment, accreditation and surveillance/ renewal of accredited laboratories (the areas of medical, health, environment, forensic analysis,treatment plants and Proficiency Testing Providers as its main task. The department is also responsible for inspection of entities in accordance with OECD’s principles for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Department of Development and International Collaboration

The department works on establishing new accreditation schemes and coordinates the agency's work in international cooperation organizations. The department contributes to the continuous improvement of internal work processes, as well as the recruitment of technical assessors, which involves hiring personnel externally. The department also ensures competence and training on international standards internally.

Department for Digitization, IT and Communication

The department has operation, maintenance and development of IT systems, development of new digital systems, communication and Norwegian Accreditation’s webpage as its main tasks. Norwegian Accreditation’s Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is Norwegian Accreditation’s advisory committee regarding operation and development of accreditation schemes. The Advisory Board also contributes in communicating and promoting accreditation as a tool to document competence. Read more about the Advisory Board here.

Norwegian Accreditation User Forum

The User Forum was established in 2022. The purpose of the User Forum is to receive feedback. The goal is to facilitate good interaction between Norwegian Accreditation (NA) and applicants/accredited enterprises, as well as others interested in accreditation. The forum consists of 15-20 external members in addition to NA representatives. The forum is composed in a way that ensures representation of significant portions of accredited enterprises.

Norwegian Accreditation's Complaints Comittee

Norsk Akkreditering's complaints committee handles complaints about accreditation decisions. The committee provides advice to the director of Norsk Akkreditering before a final decision is made. The complaints committee consists of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and an additional member from the regulatory authorities forum. A regulation for the work of the complaints committee is being prepared and will be posted as soon as it is approved.
